HTML Entities List
Common named entities with their decimal and hex codes.
About HTML entities
An HTML entity, officially a character reference, writes a character by name or number: © and © and © all produce ©. Named references are easier to read; numeric ones work for every Unicode character, including those without a name. HTML defines over 2,000 names; this page lists the ones developers reach for most.
Only a few characters must be escaped: & and < in text, and the quote character that delimits an attribute value. In a UTF-8 page, everything else, accented letters, symbols and emoji included, can be typed directly. Entities stay useful for characters that are invisible or easy to confuse, such as (non-breaking space), (soft hyphen), – and —, and the zero-width joiners.
